Play-Testing
"The difference between screwing around and science is writing it down." -- Adam Savage, Mythbusters.
Print out some cards, grab a friend, and let us know how it goes. Some points of feedback that we'd especially value are:
-
Are some cards or archetypes too strong or too weak?
Some cards are inevitably going to be low-impact, and it's natural for unorthodox or complicated combos to be more "fun" than "playable" -- that said, if you find anything in your games that doesn't feel right, we want to know. - Are the rules explained well enough? Difficulties in the rules that might need explanation.
- Typos or inconsistencies in card text.
- What's it like to pick the game up as a new player? Is there anything that we can do to help?
Card Design
Have ideas for new cards, mechanics, or archetypes? We'd love to hear them! You can:
- Get in touch with mechanics or cards that you think would be fun.
- Print out blank token cards and fill in card text/details to play-test your ideas.
Art
All of Hexal's card art is human-made, and we're ALWAYS looking for more artists to contribute. If you're interested in illustrating cards:
- Draw!
- Reach out with work that you have the rights to let us use.
- We'd love both art for existing cards AND art for cards that are yet to exist.
- Art is shared under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 license as the rest of the project (Alexander J. Newall voice: "Licensed under a creative commons non-attribution share-alike 4.0 international license" IYKYK).
